Membership FAQs

Membership runs from January 1st to December 31st each year. New members joining mid-year will be signed up for the remainder of the current season only. The races run from May to September. Social events and AGMs run from November to February.

Membership is non-transferable and is linked to your personal timing chip number.

We welcome swimmers of all abilities. However, for safety reasons, participants should be comfortable swimming the race distance in open water conditions. 1600m is the standard distance for Leinster Open Sea races. Swimmers need to be capable of swimming at a pace of less than 3 minutes per 100 meters in sea conditions. We welcome swimmers wearing both wetsuits and standard togs.
